As I am writing my February blog on things to do in Spring, there is a blizzard going on right now outside. It’s hard to think about Spring when it feels like winter is never going to end. But I chose to be optimistic. Spring will be here before we knew it. And this might be the last dump of snow!
Well, let’s talk about Spring Cleaning, shall we? Wait… what?
Yes, I think an all-rounded spring cleaning that includes not our physical space but our health is good for the mind, body and soul. Spring marks the end of a blustery winter and brings upon a new beginning of another season. So it's time to keep away all the bulky and heavy winter jackets, sweaters and boots. Bring on the tank tops, shorts and flip flops, and get ready for SPRING!!! Recharge your home and yourself with new energy!
Spring Cleaning Checklist
Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures.
Clean windowsills and window tracts.
Vacuum curtains and window blinds.
Wipe down shoe molding and dust room corners for cobwebs.
Test batteries in all your smoke detectors.
Disinfect door knobs, cabinet handles and light switches.
Wash and organize the garage.
Clean out and reorganize the closets and storage room.
Donate or get rid things/clothes you no longer need… or Marie Kondo would say “get rid of things that no longer spark joy.”
Okay… who is Marie Kondo? She is a New York Times best-selling book author who wrote about Japanese art of organizing called "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." Her methods and approach to organizing is so popular that Nextflx even decided to make reality show out of it.
Here’s a great article by HGTV that pretty much sums up some of the great tips on how to organize like Marie Kondo https://www.hgtv.com/design-blog/clean-and-organize/the-life-changing-magic-of-tidying-up-cleaning-tips
Finally, as part of your all-rounded spring cleaning... lets not forget one of the most important things - your oral health! If you haven't done so already, schedule a dental cleaning and checkup for yourself and your family. Get it done in Spring then you can forget about it and enjoy your entire summer. Nothing is more annoying than having teeth problems just right before you head to your vacation destination. Have it taken care of now and enjoy a carefree summer. A twice-annual examination, check-up, and cleaning are highly recommended. In fact, according to the Academy of General Dentistry, getting a professional cleaning a least twice a year has a significant impact on the quality of a person’s long-term oral health. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
